Beloved (Brandy Goodman Poem #9)
\n<\/u><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

I would have to say you were my first love.<\/em><\/p>\n

You were there for me through everything.<\/em><\/p>\n

Through happiness and heartache<\/em><\/p>\n

And all the joy a child brings.<\/em><\/p>\n

But mostly you were there<\/em><\/p>\n

When times for me were tough.<\/em><\/p>\n

When it was me against the world<\/em><\/p>\n

Or I had simply had enough.<\/em><\/p>\n

You held my hand and eased my pain<\/em><\/p>\n

You dried each tear that would fall.<\/em><\/p>\n

You helped me hold my head up high<\/em><\/p>\n

You were there for me through it all.<\/em><\/p>\n

But day by day I find myself<\/em><\/p>\n

Pulling further away from you<\/em><\/p>\n

And even though I see it happening<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m not sure what to do.<\/em><\/p>\n

I’m depressed and I’m angry<\/em><\/p>\n

But it’s too hard for me to turn your way.<\/em><\/p>\n

How do I find my way back<\/em><\/p>\n

To turning to you every day?<\/em><\/p>\n

It’s not as if you let me down<\/em><\/p>\n

Or in some way did me wrong.<\/em><\/p>\n

I just feel disconnected from you<\/em><\/p>\n

Like with you I no longer belong.<\/em><\/p>\n

All desire to be with you<\/em><\/p>\n

Has eroded slowly over time.<\/em><\/p>\n

It seems like it\u2019s been forever<\/em><\/p>\n

Since you were really mine.<\/em><\/p>\n

Whatever happened in the past<\/em><\/p>\n

We must move forward to see<\/em><\/p>\n

The bright future you and I share<\/em><\/p>\n
