<\/p>\n
That mask you wear<\/p>\n
behind whose your eyes do blindly stare<\/p>\n
they seem to zoom into an empty place<\/p>\n
where you live that strange existence<\/p>\n
like a firefly trapped on a glued surface<\/p>\n
succumbing to the inevitable.<\/p>\n
The last time I saw you at the cottage<\/p>\n
you were hovering on the treeline of insanity<\/p>\n
an empty bourbon bottle on the floor<\/p>\n
another one half full on the table<\/p>\n
and lethargy filled the room<\/p>\n
like a belly full up with the morning’s porridge.<\/p>\n
I had tried to get through to you<\/p>\n
to pierce the disquiet and pull you back<\/p>\n
but all you did was mumble incoherently<\/p>\n
punctured with a stony silence.<\/p>\n
This time would I intervene?<\/p>\n
How would that be?<\/p>\n
Would it permanently sever us?<\/p>\n
In the end I had decided to leave<\/p>\n
and hope that you would survive to sit this one out.<\/p>\n
