The road ahead is rocky
\nThe water’s getting deep
\nThe trouble brewing in my mind
\nIs stealing hours of sleep
\nI don’t know if I have the strength
\nMy fears and worries great
\nI keep people at an arm’s length
\nFor none can quite relate<\/p>\n
I never thought I’d be here
\nThe heart within me’s breaking
\nI feel my soul has been laid bare
\nWide open for the taking
\nAnd yet, I doubt I could e’er tell
\nFor none would understand
\nThe emotions I am feeling… well…
\nThey just were never planned<\/p>\n
How do I carry onward
\nAs a mother and a wife
\nThe climb feels all but cheerful
\nTrapped ‘neath this deepened strife
\nA journey of taboo regard
\nThat no one could understand
\nWhen suddenly you have a wife
\nBut you married a man<\/p>\n
To wake and find your spouse is trans
\nWhat will become of me
\nWhat will become of us and more
\nWhat of our family
\nThat I still so adore
\nI doubt I have the needed strength
\nBut, still I know I must
\nFor what she needs the most of all
\nIs all my love and trust<\/p>\n
So though I doubt I know the way
\nI’ve faith in what will be
\nMy family matters, come what may
\nThey are the world to me
\nThis road is filled with so much strife
\nBut through each tidal wave
\nI’ll take each day, glad for this life
\nAnd all I have to save<\/p>\n
Love the person, not the choice
\nFor outer looks fade fast
\nTrust the souls who choose to voice
\nTheir peace within at last
\nThese are the mantras of my strength
\nSo my doubt may be for naught
\nAs each day I keep fears at great length
