{"id":68352,"date":"2020-06-27T17:41:44","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:41:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=68352"},"modified":"2020-06-27T17:54:04","modified_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:54:04","slug":"strange-days-indeed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/strange-days-indeed\/","title":{"rendered":"Strange Days Indeed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Strange Days Indeed<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>From my window at night<\/p>\n<p>I watch a firefly flit around<\/p>\n<p>my backyard embracing<\/p>\n<p>this summer\u2019s heat, reminding me<\/p>\n<p>of the times when as a child I\u2019d trap<\/p>\n<p>such an insect inside a clear bottle<\/p>\n<p>and proudly show my mother.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I sit here now with a Covid mask<\/p>\n<p>atop my desk, staring at a computer<\/p>\n<p>screen, repressing my lethargy<\/p>\n<p>by going on Zoom to chat<\/p>\n<p>with my socially-distanced siblings<\/p>\n<p>and kin as well as friends with whom<\/p>\n<p>I seldom come in contact.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Like that jarred firefly, I sit<\/p>\n<p>here imprisoned with others<\/p>\n<p>looking at me from an outside<\/p>\n<p>universe, unable to touch let alone<\/p>\n<p>embrace me.
