{"id":68579,"date":"2020-06-27T17:04:34","date_gmt":"2020-06-27T21:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=68579"},"modified":"2020-06-27T21:06:49","modified_gmt":"2020-06-28T01:06:49","slug":"prompt-3-the-result-of-generations-lost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/prompt-3-the-result-of-generations-lost\/","title":{"rendered":"Prompt #3: The Result of Generations Lost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The generations lower their heads as they go to the fields.<br \/>\nAll sense of hope for a better day slowly leaving their idle minds.<br \/>\nBlisters and sunburns, broken bones and shattered dreams.<br \/>\nTheir children in the yard watch as their parents work jobs.<br \/>\nThey are not the slaves of the American south<br \/>\nBut while their families were freed, their dreams were never returned.<br \/>\nThey are the result of generations lost.<\/p>\n<p>A free man is able to succeed or fail using his own will.<br \/>\nA man not taught to dream does not know what he is working for.<br \/>\nThe children of a man with no dreams do not see a better day in their future.<br \/>\nThey live their lives from day to day often left to their own defenses.<br \/>\nSociety tells them to go to school, but the children don\u2019t know why.<br \/>\nSociety tells them to get a job, but they are children who have yet to play.<br \/>\nSo, they wander through life left to their own defenses.<br \/>\nThey are the result of generations lost.<\/p>\n<p>A child must be motivated to succeed.<br \/>\nTo please their parents and loved ones.<br \/>\nTo achieve the goals that their family and community set for them.<br \/>\nThat is how children grow.<br \/>\nBut to raise a child to achieve we must know how to achieve ourselves.<br \/>\nWe all as adults of every race must encourage the children of our society to succeed.<br \/>\nTo strive for a better day.<br \/>\nThere is not a man, woman, or child alive on God\u2019s green earth that does not have a better day ahead of them.<br \/>\nBut if we cannot come together<br \/>\nThen we may all become the result of generations lost.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The generations lower their heads as they go to the fields.
