There’s a strange cottage in the woods
\nit lurks just beyond the tree line, out of sight.
\nEven the heat of summer cannot affect
\nthe cool atmosphere around the cottage.<\/p>\n
Sometimes when I’m overheating
\nI’ll zoom past the treeline to the lake
\nthe cottage rests upon.
\nSometimes when I’m overheating
\nI’ll eat porridge by its shade.<\/p>\n
The cottage is old yet doesn’t age
\nFrozen in time it seems.
\nSometimes I imagine light within;
\nIt turns out to be fireflies among the beams.<\/p>\n
A mask sits upon the hook
\nWhere hats and coats usually rest
\nAnd on the table of the cottage
\nLies a bottle full of liquid.<\/p>\n
Sometimes when I’m overheating
\nI feel a little brave and enter
\nthe cottage by the lake.
\nSometimes when I’m overheating
\nI’ll empty that bottle into the earth.<\/p>\n
The cottage doesn’t change at all
\nThe liquid returns somehow
\nIf the mask is moved it returns somehow.
\nI didn’t steal it, Just moved it over one.<\/p>\n
The mask is green, with little spots
\nUp close they look like skulls.
\nThey’re cracked and dusty, old from time
\nUnlike the cottage the mask is within.<\/p>\n
Sometimes when I’m overheating
\nI put on the mask and grin at
\nthe cottage’s interior
\nSometimes when I’m overheating
