It\u2019s shallow.<br \/>\nTo make up for the handicap,<br \/>\nit plunges into the depths<br \/>\nof the lungs, terrorizing cells,<br \/>\nskyjacking airways, tearing<br \/>\nthrough tissue and membrane,<br \/>\ngalloping in the blood, filling<br \/>\nevery pore, entering the bone.<\/p>\n<p>It knows its way without eyes,<br \/>\nit speaks to its kind without<br \/>\nspeech, it creeps, multiplies,<br \/>\nand without any restraint.  It<br \/>\ndoes not hide its face because<br \/>\nit is faceless, and yet we have<br \/>\ngiven it the honour of a name,<br \/>\nwe have made room for it,<br \/>\nand we are feeding it well.<\/p>\n<p>It has become a shape-shifting<br \/>\nthief, a master of disguise,<br \/>\ncatching us while we breathe,<br \/>\ntoppling our governments,<br \/>\nspiriting away our economies,<br \/>\nand yet it does not know love,<br \/>\nor laughter, it has no memory<br \/>\nof past peace, even as it wages<br \/>\nits silent war within us.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>They say the virus lives on surfaces.
