I lunge for the window<\/p>\n
Suffocating under the panic of the cottage that flooded and the school that burned<\/p>\n
Exhausted by lessons only half learned<\/p>\n
Studying again.by the dim light of a firefly.<\/p>\n

Insufficient to bring relief to the eye<\/p>\n
Even now as you grow weary<\/p>\n
And lethargy sets in<\/p>\n
You understand a little more clearly<\/p>\n
That though their light may be dim<\/p>\n
It has an agenda – to attract mates or prey<\/p>\n
Something you should try to remember –<\/p>\n
And you knew not which because neither did they.<\/p>\n

The courage for a decision appeared to be Dutch<\/p>\n
Hidden in the bottle now in their clutch<\/p>\n
A strange heat rises under the gaze of their eye<\/p>\n
