You’ve seen the fish, seen her home<\/p>\n

the silver flashes ‘twixt the bones<\/p>\n

the flickering motion of her tail<\/p>\n

in the wild ocean from which she hails.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You’ve seen the bones, the carcass rotted<\/p>\n

dark, alone but for the fish you spotted.<\/p>\n

You know the cost of wandering deep<\/p>\n

and falling, lost, in that soggy sleep.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Yet still you dive.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You imagine treasure in every reef<\/p>\n

and with that pleasure comes belief.<\/p>\n

A newer place, a better haul<\/p>\n

drives your race to plumb it all.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

You prowl the wrecks, you pick the bones<\/p>\n

loot the decks of fishes’ homes.<\/p>\n

With no pity for what you plunder<\/p>\n

you trash fish cities and bash asunder…<\/p>\n
