Within the patterns of the night<\/p>\n
I pull the shawl of soft moonlight<\/p>\n
about my shoulders and take my place<\/p>\n
to dance the barefoot steps of grace.<\/p>\n
My feet are sure enough to hold<\/p>\n
me through the years of growing old,<\/p>\n
my hands are able to reach out<\/p>\n
whenever I am filled with doubt.<\/p>\n
My ears can hear the gentle tune<\/p>\n
that draws me in to dance the moon,<\/p>\n
my mouth can shape the ancient song<\/p>\n
that calls my soul to sing along.<\/p>\n
From light to shadow and back again,<\/p>\n
I dance the steps I learned back when<\/p>\n
I was a child, and watched the moon<\/p>\n
pour its light into my room,<\/p>\n
calling me out to dance the night<\/p>\n
