It can be moral, ethical,
\nkind, and decent.
\nGenerous and honest.
\nAnd it can still suck.<\/p>\n
It can be costly, scary,
\nhard and ugly,
\nagonizing and vulnerable.
\nAnd it can be right.<\/p>\n
They warn you that right isn’t always easy.<\/p>\n
No good deed goes unpunished, after all.<\/p>\n
But how many ways it comes at you:
\nLost friends, alienated relatives,
\nbullying, backlash, bitching,
\nstress, anxiety, doxxing,
\nbeatings, lynchings, arson,
\nlost opportunities,
\na life measurably more difficult.<\/p>\n
Maybe they should emphasize that a little more.<\/p>\n
Just finding the right thing can be messy
\nMinefield messy, with a side of timebomb.
\nThe Law of Shared Space:
\nWith two or more sets of feet, sooner or later
\nSomeone’s toes are getting stepped on.
\nThe Law of Schedules:
\nWith two or more sets of priorities, sooner or later,
\nSomeone’s not going to be where they’re wanted.
\nThe Law of Action:
\nIf you don’t make a choice, you lose.<\/p>\n
Good people get hurt no matter what you choose.<\/p>\n
Even taking all the pain yourself doesn’t just make it right.
\nBecause you’re probably a good person, too.
