Into Japan I\u2019d like to roam<\/p>\n
amidst cherry blossoms\u2019 sweet perfume<\/p>\n
konnichiwa as I kowtow<\/p>\n
when meeting those in kimono<\/p>\n
at giant red torii respectfully gaze<\/p>\n
and simple Buddhist shrines amaze<\/p>\n
its food, my favorite sushi bites<\/p>\n
red and orange, black and white<\/p>\n
the shodo, or calligraphy<\/p>\n
and painting fascinating me<\/p>\n
the brush\u2019s art in every letter<\/p>\n
seems light and dainty like a feather<\/p>\n
the bonsai, it\u2019s a careful tree<\/p>\n
pruned ever so unnaturally<\/p>\n
yet its tiny winding way<\/p>\n
intimidates and awes my stay<\/p>\n
no comfort comes though if I squeeze<\/p>\n
into a cubicle meant for sleep<\/p>\n
or a subway packed to brim<\/p>\n
where workers fight to get in<\/p>\n
her scrapers shout neon reds and greens<\/p>\n
while bars pulse with karaoke scenes<\/p>\n
she\u2019s stunning, I can easily say<\/p>\n
I\u2019d love to visit in person one day.<\/p>\n
