Spring brought the news of a fall marriage.<\/p>\n
A wedding in our backyard.<\/p>\n
I gave them my blessing<\/p>\n
I gave my dreams the wallet;<\/p>\n
At last, my dreams would be realized:<\/p>\n
A tall white gothic pergola perhaps<\/p>\n
A scaled-down, Multnomah Falls;<\/p>\n
With a bridge and a path leading everywhere.<\/p>\n
Short columns to mount my bonsai trees on,<\/p>\n
Patches of lawn between large beds of flowers.<\/p>\n
Flowers that bloom in the fall, of course.<\/p>\n
In my dreams, I have already arrived on that perfect wedding day.<\/p>\n
Everything is beautiful. Everyone is feeling joy in the day.<\/p>\n
But my dreams and my wallet need to have another conversation.<\/p>\n
I don’t think my dreams want to know what my wallet has to say.<\/p>\n
