{"id":71057,"date":"2020-06-27T20:30:54","date_gmt":"2020-06-28T00:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=71057"},"modified":"2020-06-28T10:04:28","modified_gmt":"2020-06-28T14:04:28","slug":"here-be-dragons-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/here-be-dragons-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Here Be Dragons&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here be dragons mark the places on the map<br \/>\nMarking the point where facts and knowledge ended<br \/>\nAnd the wild places of the world beyond.<br \/>\nWhere dangerous monsters dwell<\/p>\n<p>Obviously now we know that dragons no longer exist<br \/>\nWe drove them out with our reason and our insatiable desire to know<br \/>\nDragons live on faith and mystery<br \/>\nScepticism killed them<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps together we could find a way to bring them back<br \/>\nBut that would be impossible<br \/>\nBecause we already know that they do not exist<br \/>\nWe can\u2019t bring them back<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps one day we\u2019ll come to terms<br \/>\nWith how we drove our dragons off the map<br \/>\nBut we won\u2019t care about how this lost us<br \/>\nOur imagination<\/p>\n<p>Is our world not big enough<br \/>\nTo include the fact that dragons can\u2019t exist<br \/>\nWith the necessity of having them<br \/>\nThe belief in something grander than ourselves<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps one day we will discover<br \/>\nA way for both dragon and reality<br \/>\nTo live in the same world<br \/>\nBut then again, perhaps not.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps all we can do is dream&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here be dragons mark the places on the map Marking the point where facts and knowledge ended And the wild places of the world beyond.
