Martini Splash<\/strong><\/p>\n By Sandy Lender<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Amid the laughter and clanking of glasses<\/p>\n Over the jazz, but under the radar of my BFF,<\/p>\n Aqua Velva touches my arm like he knows me.<\/p>\n Just my luck,<\/p>\n Mr. Touchy is one of those rare gents who thinks the words<\/p>\n \u201cno, thank you\u201d<\/p>\n mean \u201cat least buy me a drink.\u201d<\/p>\n Like I\u2019m gonna take a drink from a stranger.<\/p>\n A drink that has a darker color than his own.<\/p>\n Stay six feet back, buddy,<\/p>\n Or I\u2019ll drop this mask and sneeze directly on you.<\/p>\n (And your martini-of-questionable-hue.)<\/p>\n The over-cologner says \u201cthat\u2019s not a nice beginning to our story.\u201d<\/p>\n I tell him it\u2019s how \u201cour\u201d story begins, middles, and ends.<\/p>\n Saved by my BFF\u2019s return,<\/p>\n Mr. Touchy preps to turn away,<\/p>\n But I can\u2019t (with good conscience) let him take his suspect cocktail into the buzzing crowd.<\/p>\n Oopsadaisy!
