Lightening snapping<\/p>\n
The hot smell, the sizzle<\/p>\n
The electricity charging the air<\/p>\n

I remember the clouds swirling<\/p>\n
Twirling,<\/p>\n
The sky turning a sinister green gray<\/p>\n
Shifting the world<\/p>\n
From a warm summer’s day<\/p>\n
to a frightening night<\/p>\n
Huddled in basements<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I remember cold so bitter<\/p>\n
My snot froze<\/p>\n
Ice coated windshields<\/p>\n
Frozen fingers and toes<\/p>\n
Thawing by the heater, numb<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I remember my dog jumping on my lap<\/p>\n
Thunder making him shake and shiver<\/p>\n
Giant softball hail breaking windows and pelting cars<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I remember excesses<\/p>\n
Tornadoes leveling neighborhoods<\/p>\n
Trailers twisted<\/p>\n
Debris flying<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
An ice storm so bad power went out<\/p>\n
Poles downed from the weight<\/p>\n
Whole towns closed<\/p>\n
Streets undrivable<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I remember flooding<\/p>\n
Underpasses closed<\/p>\n
Basements full<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I remember lightening flashing like a strobe<\/p>\n
Through sheets of rain<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Glad to be safe, in the middle of the ocean<\/p>\n
Lightening an interesting phenomena no one fears<\/p>\n
Rain is just rain<\/p>\n
Snow is an anomaly<\/p>\n
Not an ice storm to be had<\/p>\n
Just palm trees sweeping the sky<\/p>\n
The wind gentle and kind<\/p>\n
High tides just enough<\/p>\n
To delight the surfers<\/p>\n
