Every evening, the elderly lady next door<\/p>\n
sits on her front lanai and exclaims to me,<\/p>\n
“I am having my weekly glass of evening\u00a0 wine.”<\/p>\n
I make a slightly exaggerated facial expression<\/p>\n
and remind her that, “One a week is actually good for you!”<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I take bowls to her of whatever we are having for dinner.<\/p>\n
Within minutes, she returns the bowl<\/p>\n
clean. dry, and filled with something yummy<\/p>\n
from her own kitchen, always clarifying,<\/p>\n
“I will have that for my dinner, so I put it on a plate.”<\/p>\n
Then, regardless of the time, she reminds me<\/p>\n
“I have to get home now.<\/p>\n
My daughter calls me every night at 7 o’clock.<\/p>\n
She calls me every night. 7 o’clock.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Sometimes, when I happen to be sitting out front around 7 o’clock<\/p>\n
I hear her sweet, sing song greeting.<\/p>\n
I can picture her lovely face, so excited<\/p>\n
as if she were the child, and her Mom was calling her…<\/p>\n
