I see His nail-scarred hands<\/p>\n
the crown upon His head.<\/p>\n
Why was it He to suffer<\/p>\n
why not me instead?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He was not of wrongdoing<\/p>\n
but took the place for me.<\/p>\n
He bore my sin and sorrow<\/p>\n
That I could be set free.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
He took the beatings and the lashes<\/p>\n
and said not a word in vain.<\/p>\n
He walked the road to Calvary<\/p>\n
bearing my guilt and shame.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
They spat, called names and mocked Him<\/p>\n
they nailed His hands and feet.<\/p>\n
As He hung on the old rugged cross<\/p>\n
for mockers to believe defeat.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But NO! His death was a victory<\/p>\n
a hope forevermore.<\/p>\n
For you and me in eternity<\/p>\n
As He opened up Heaven’s door!<\/p>\n
