When surpassing security and embarking the plane<\/p>\n
I tend to ruminate a scene in my head.<\/p>\n
I have packed my carry-on with all the essentials for my anxieties<\/p>\n
and downloaded songs like “Thunderstruck” and “Immigrant Song” to inspire bravery.<\/p>\n
I instill courage to my heart as I locate my seat.<\/p>\n
And hope to whichever God is listening, to grant me serenity and safety.<\/p>\n
The plane takes off and leaves the runway<\/p>\n
I chew minty gum so the pressure won’t disturb me.<\/p>\n
Smooth sailing but not for long<\/p>\n
as turbulence hits, making cowards of us all.<\/p>\n
I could have done without this form of travel<\/p>\n
