Fleisher<\/p>\n<p>Hour 18<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Prompt 18: Write a narrative poem set during a holiday. It could be a poem based on your own lived experience or it could be an imagined event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Why Is This Night Different from Every Other Night?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All is ready for the Passover feast.<\/p>\n<p>Sparkling glass stemware, gleaming silver utensils,<\/p>\n<p>the menorah with candles ready to light,<\/p>\n<p>a white tablecloth with fine gold embroidery.<\/p>\n<p>In the center of the table, the Seder Plate,<\/p>\n<p>which holds the traditional foods for the Passover ceremony:<\/p>\n<p>a roasted lamb shank bone (or a chicken neck)<\/p>\n<p>karpas (parsley),<\/p>\n<p>chazeret (bitter herbs: Romaine lettuce),<\/p>\n<p>charoset (sweet salad: Apples, nuts, wine, cinnamon)<\/p>\n<p>maror (Bitter herbs: Horseradish),<\/p>\n<p>Salt water,<\/p>\n<p>a roasted egg.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Three Matzah wait on a special plate,<\/p>\n<p>each separated by a white napkin,<\/p>\n<p>and covered with another white napkin.<\/p>\n<p>One is eaten with Maror<\/p>\n<p>and one becomes the special dessert.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a Jewish household there is no other night<\/p>\n<p>as special as this night, when the story of<\/p>\n<p>our ancestors\u2019 flight from Egypt is recounted<\/p>\n<p>and acted out in ceremony<\/p>\n<p>to keep the deliverance story alive<\/p>\n<p>for the next generation.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Beth A.
