Saturday mornings were my favorite
\nNot just because of the cartoon blocs on ABC<\/p>\n
Though, it’s certain I would be upset if I missed them<\/p>\n
It was the Saturday’s of summer that I relished
\nAbove He-Man, Loony Toons, and Garfield<\/p>\n
On those warm Saturday’s
\nPowder Horn, Lake Michy, and on the odd occasion, Cal Park
\nWere above even the best of my animated wonderments<\/p>\n
The fish were always glad I visited on those days
\nBeing 5, and prone to striking up conversation
\nWithout so much as a whim<\/p>\n
The fishermen, not so much<\/p>\n
One day, Dad bought me a rod and tackle
\nTried to show me how to bait the hook
\nWeight the line
\nCast<\/p>\n
The sound, was funny.
\nAnd I laughed.<\/p>\n
Standing at the pier\/shore\/dock
\nWhiling away the summer Saturday
\nRod in hand
\nMind, on whatever it was 5 year old me would dwell<\/p>\n
