Whispering poetry to myself in the bath<\/p>\n
I ponder my day and choke on a laugh<\/p>\n
at all of the silly little things that you said;<\/p>\n
how God is alive,<\/p>\n
and that sky is red<\/p>\n
and nightmares so troublesome fall from my head.<\/p>\n
With momma up to mischief<\/p>\n
and daddy on the couch<\/p>\n
I tiptoe to my room<\/p>\n
quiet as a mouse.<\/p>\n
Moonlight dances on the ruddy wood floors.<\/p>\n
There’s holes in the rooftop and locks on the doors.<\/p>\n
I turn off my light and<\/p>\n
draw the shade down the window.<\/p>\n
Turn down the blankets and<\/p>\n
fluff up my pillow.<\/p>\n
I pray to the Lord my tired soul to keep<\/p>\n
and wish that tonight I’ll fall easily asleep.<\/p>\n
I drink myself to a tumultuous nap<\/p>\n
