I walk alone.<\/em><\/p>\n

No matter who is beside me,<\/p>\n

behind me,<\/p>\n

or in front of me.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I walk alone.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When I pause<\/p>\n

to rest,<\/p>\n

or recuperate…<\/p>\n

I am alone.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even among friends<\/p>\n

who covet me,<\/p>\n

Or hate me.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I walk alone.<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Once I had a companion<\/p>\n

until the pace was too fast…<\/p>\n

So we drifted apart~<\/p>\n

~and I walked alone.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

My traveler has since wandered back…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Aimlessly perhaps,<\/p>\n

to rest his tired feet<\/p>\n

upon my weak and weary back.<\/p>\n
