{"id":75847,"date":"2020-06-28T07:29:27","date_gmt":"2020-06-28T11:29:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=75847"},"modified":"2020-06-28T07:29:27","modified_gmt":"2020-06-28T11:29:27","slug":"the-imaginary-pet-prompt-23-hour-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2020\/06\/the-imaginary-pet-prompt-23-hour-23\/","title":{"rendered":"The Imaginary Pet &#8211; Prompt 23, Hour 23"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It grins, serene, at her, its owner<br \/>\na small black ear flicks in the wind,<br \/>\nit&#8217;s smaller than a mouse, that ear,<br \/>\nbut the other is large as if it can<br \/>\nchoose what to hear.<\/p>\n<p>An orange tail flicks, the red one<br \/>\nswishes, the third one I cannot<br \/>\nsee, but I know it&#8217;s there, I&#8217;ve felt<br \/>\nit when the creature first appeared,<br \/>\nyou see.<\/p>\n<p>They call this creature Aluette, but<br \/>\nnot after the song or cheese, it&#8217;s<br \/>\nknown instead for biting ducks and<br \/>\nbeing immune to fleas. It&#8217;s got thick<br \/>\ndark leather skin.<\/p>\n<p>It has fur too, not too soft, and in<br \/>\nsome places coarse. Only on its<br \/>\nback and knees, a tuft of fur upon<br \/>\nits chin, and teeth as sharp as<br \/>\nknives.<\/p>\n<p>It has webbed paws and wicked<br \/>\neyes, and loves its owner until she&#8217;s<br \/>\nits prize. It&#8217;ll steal her soul unless she<br \/>\nknows not to put tuna in its bowl, so<br \/>\nI&#8217;ll try to warn her.<\/p>\n<p>How do I know?
