<\/p>\n
Leftovers<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
We all stood in wide circle<\/p>\n
The last toast of champagne<\/p>\n
The evening went as quickly<\/p>\n
As the teasing champagne<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I helped with the jackets<\/p>\n
And offered Tupperwared portions<\/p>\n
And any wine<\/p>\n
That was sitting in unconquered portions<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I walked out to the driveway<\/p>\n
With the satiated company<\/p>\n
For the goodbye waves<\/p>\n
As they drove away from my company<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But there was no loneliness<\/p>\n
Just joy<\/p>\n
A reflection of thankfulness<\/p>\n
The most fulfilling kind of joy<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I knew something was forgotten<\/p>\n
There always is, I was aware<\/p>\n
And I saw a silk scarf<\/p>\n
On a now lonesome chair, so unaware<\/p>\n
