If moonshadow were following me in the gloom<\/p>\n
i dare not think of what doth loom<\/p>\n
nor turn my head to see the ghoul<\/p>\n
or else my limbs would freeze, and who\u2019ll<\/p>\n
be there to aid, to help me flee<\/p>\n
the shadows caving in on me<\/p>\n
a nightmare I can ne\u2019er escape<\/p>\n
one that plays on and on, and scrape<\/p>\n
my knee in falling into thorns<\/p>\n
moon\u2019s shadow it has now borne<\/p>\n
a sinister darker reflection of it<\/p>\n
and underneath thee, I do sit<\/p>\n
cowering at its murky slime<\/p>\n
shuddering in the mist and grime<\/p>\n
the shadow reaches out with lies<\/p>\n
its gnarled hand touching, blinding\u00a0eyes<\/p>\n
and then alas, it muffles mouth<\/p>\n
my screams are mute, north, east and south<\/p>\n
I startle then, awake, and spy<\/p>\n
my pillow\u2019s the shadow<\/p>\n
summer heat is the why<\/p>\n
I awoke in a sweat<\/p>\n
and did not dream-die.<\/p>\n
