{"id":8297,"date":"2015-06-13T13:09:24","date_gmt":"2015-06-13T17:09:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=8297"},"modified":"2015-06-13T13:09:24","modified_gmt":"2015-06-13T17:09:24","slug":"him-hour-5-102","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2015\/06\/him-hour-5-102\/","title":{"rendered":"Him                            (hour 5, 1:02)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m never as serious<\/p>\n<p>as I am now.<\/p>\n<p>I am a Him.<\/p>\n<p>As male and obnoxious,<\/p>\n<p>or caring and visceral,<\/p>\n<p>as any female human.<\/p>\n<p>I stand on my own,<\/p>\n<p>principals, goals,<\/p>\n<p>drives driving me toward the<\/p>\n<p>father I don&#8217;t want to be.<\/p>\n<p>I won&#8217;t be another HIM,<br \/>\njust the Him I am.<\/p>\n<p>I won&#8217;t beat my children<\/p>\n<p>with the end of a fishing rod.<\/p>\n<p>I won&#8217;t pull the daughters around the floor<\/p>\n<p>by their hair.<\/p>\n<p>I won&#8217;t finger their innocence<\/p>\n<p>because of uncontrollable<\/p>\n<p>hatreds.<\/p>\n<p>Or I won&#8217;t be with a Her,<\/p>\n<p>or I will sheath my manhood<\/p>\n<p>like the gloved hand<\/p>\n<p>with a finger in the dyke.<\/p>\n<p>No more water,<\/p>\n<p>no more collateral damages,<\/p>\n<p>no more babies.<\/p>\n<p>I am a him, as best as I can be.<\/p>\n<p>I love, respect, and still want.<\/p>\n<p>More than all the world,<\/p>\n<p>I want more than I need.<\/p>\n<p>All too often,<\/p>\n<p>forgetting that I<\/p>\n<p>gave it all<\/p>\n<p>for them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m never as serious as I am now.
