I am making a lovely writer’s getaway<\/p>\n

On\u00a0the\u00a0back lanai<\/p>\n

There are palm trees and green grass<\/p>\n

And our broken Christmas Amaryllis<\/p>\n

Lost to the wind<\/p>\n

I pull out the big brown vinyl chairs<\/p>\n

Using a towel to clean them<\/p>\n

The towel turns dirt red<\/p>\n

It’s been awhile<\/p>\n

The bougainvillea greet me<\/p>\n

They dance in deep purple and<\/p>\n

cheery red, and dainty orange<\/p>\n

I clean off a spot for a computer and notebook<\/p>\n

I smell the fresh morning air<\/p>\n

Just a hint of ocean,\u00a0flora<\/p>\n

Plumeria and papaya<\/p>\n

This will be amazing.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I finish my task<\/p>\n

Excited<\/p>\n

I recheck everything,<\/p>\n

repositioning chairs<\/p>\n

wiping a missed spot<\/p>\n

the true beauty around me takes my breath away<\/p>\n

I cannot understand why I<\/p>\n

stay inside<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A large carpenter bee appears<\/p>\n

Dive bombs\u00a0at me<\/p>\n

I duck\u00a0and weave<\/p>\n

He\u00a0buzzes my ear<\/p>\n

Hissing\u00a0a warning<\/p>\n

Reminds\u00a0he has friends<\/p>\n

Lots of them<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I slither inside<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Writer’s\u00a0getaway abandoned<\/p>\n

I hope the bee enjoys his retreat.<\/p>\n
