Too long I’ve lived<\/p>\n
inside the noise,<\/p>\n
the words,<\/p>\n
the doubts;<\/p>\n
I’ve been trampled down,<\/p>\n
and made to shrink<\/p>\n
beneath the sea of strife.<\/p>\n
My soul was lost,<\/p>\n
weighted by the expectations<\/p>\n
placed upon me,<\/p>\n
not just by others<\/p>\n
but also by myself,<\/p>\n
so all I could see was nothing.<\/p>\n
Everything around me was blurred<\/p>\n
and erased<\/p>\n
by the chaotic flotsam<\/p>\n
surrounding my life.<\/p>\n
But the time has come<\/p>\n
to pierce the shell<\/p>\n
and break free of all the fodder.<\/p>\n
My vision is clearer<\/p>\n
and my heart is calm,<\/p>\n
beating stronger than before.<\/p>\n
I have punched holes in the cage,<\/p>\n
and pieces of light shine on me again.<\/p>\n
I can breathe better,<\/p>\n
believing that the last few years<\/p>\n
can fall away<\/p>\n
as I slide out of their grip<\/p>\n
like a snake shedding its skin,<\/p>\n
revealing a new one underneath;<\/p>\n
still tender,<\/p>\n
but ready to meet the world<\/p>\n
and start really living life again.<\/p>\n
