I heard in those words<\/p>\n

the blame fall on me<\/p>\n

for his reckless behaviour<\/p>\n

while I couldn’t breathe<\/p>\n

Your snipy remark,<\/p>\n

made in a temper so whipped,<\/p>\n

made it clear to me then<\/p>\n

He’d been building strong sticks<\/p>\n

for the blame to fall either<\/p>\n

In your house or mine.<\/p>\n

My heart broke again<\/p>\n

In that moment I realised<\/p>\n

He had lied to us both.<\/p>\n

For years, oh God, it was years,<\/p>\n

to see who’ d serve him most.<\/p>\n
