you never see it coming, ya know?<\/p>\n

even when you kinda expect it<\/p>\n

there\u2019s a way<\/p>\n

it sneaks up<\/p>\n

jumps you<\/p>\n

eyes<\/p>\n

all around<\/p>\n

alert expectation<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0yes, people out here<\/em><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0are trying to kill you<\/em><\/p>\n

ha! empty effort \u2013<\/p>\n

no amount of preparation<\/p>\n

can avert<\/p>\n

the sudden assault<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the body will crumble<\/p>\n

you will not remember<\/p>\n

the impact<\/p>\n

the split seconds<\/p>\n

of flying<\/p>\n

through the air<\/p>\n

the second crash<\/p>\n

the slam<\/p>\n

and slide<\/p>\n

flesh a poor rival<\/p>\n

to concrete<\/p>\n

small bits of stone<\/p>\n

and glass<\/p>\n

imbedding<\/p>\n

into what<\/p>\n

you knew<\/p>\n

as you<\/p>\n

your body<\/p>\n

the moving<\/p>\n

breathing<\/p>\n

self<\/p>\n

of you<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

now a mass<\/p>\n

of damage<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

after that<\/p>\n

you remember<\/p>\n

the body<\/p>\n

remembers<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and what of it?<\/p>\n

there is no<\/p>\n

before<\/p>\n

it is just now<\/p>\n

always now<\/p>\n

beginning again<\/p>\n

and then<\/p>\n

again\/starting line<\/p>\n

obliterated<\/p>\n

heading hazy<\/p>\n

and<\/p>\n

each step<\/p>\n
