{"id":88076,"date":"2021-06-26T09:59:11","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T13:59:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=88076"},"modified":"2021-06-26T09:59:11","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T13:59:11","slug":"contemplating-endings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/contemplating-endings\/","title":{"rendered":"Contemplating Endings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In my seashell I lie.<br \/>\nPackaged in a nice neat ball<br \/>\nlike the fetus I am.<\/p>\n<p>Needs are met<br \/>\ncould ask for more<br \/>\nbut I&#8217;ll save that.<\/p>\n<p>Content and fed<br \/>\nwill do for now.<br \/>\nDaydreams consumed<br \/>\nwith running away.<br \/>\nYet here I remain.<\/p>\n<p>Caged out of my own freewill.<br \/>\nI&#8217;m scared.<br \/>\nWon&#8217;t bother elaborating<br \/>\nabout my achy chest.<\/p>\n<p>To be free<br \/>\nis to be vulnerable.<br \/>\nAnd each day<br \/>\nI still remain like so.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As seasons fade by<br \/>\nI grow against<br \/>\nmy own freewill.<br \/>\nOne day my home<br \/>\nwill crack to pieces.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I should<br \/>\njust break free myself&#8230;<br \/>\nNah.<\/p>\n<p>Letting something else<br \/>\nwrite my story<br \/>\nbrings me an eerie comfort.<br \/>\nFate does all the work.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Poem 1 of 2021 Half-Marathon)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In my seashell I lie.
