Wandering eyes with meandering mind
\nEat away at symbols
\nClutched within the web of thought
\nStruggling, attempting to decipher
\nYet every thought brings on more
\nQuestions than answers.
\nI bring myself back
\nPulling myself down
\nOut of the clouds
\nAnd try and stay in the moment
\nI see my reflection
\nThe tell-tale signs of age
\nAnd wisdom, scurrying about the lines
\nDrawn out by Father Time
\nI smell the scent of freshly cut grass
\nBillowing through the open window
\nI taste the last drops of coffee
\nSpilling down my chin-
\nCaffeinated liquid gold
\nI touch the hem of a shawl
\nWrapping around my fingers
\nIn a lover\u2019s embrace
\nProtection from the cold, harsh world
\nI listen to the silence
\nThe sound of alone
\nThe melody of my heartbeat
\nI sink again into thought
\nAs it yet still beats for you.
\nThe daydreams clamber
\nUp the mountains of sense
\nAnd finds that it makes none,
\nBut does it matter?
\nI lose myself again in altitudes
\nOnly to force myself to ground
\nPlummeting like my heart
\nSpiraling in a cacophony
\nOf windswept imagination
\nAnd damnable overthinking.
\nMatching sequence to truth
\nArcheological digs brushing
\nAway thought as I brush aside
\nYet another far-fetched dream-
\nTrying to make sense of
\nAmbiguity
\nMy restlessness enjoying the ride
\nIn disorienting travels from heaven
\nTo earth
\nAnd oft I wonder if I am
\nHere or there,
\nBut in truth, I realize despite all
