<\/p>\n
Poem 2<\/p>\n
Long Run at Dawn<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Dawn comes early<\/p>\n
solstice glow time.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Birds calling when<\/p>\n
December\u2019s freeze<\/p>\n
would silence the world.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Pink sky, distant islands<\/p>\n
hope trying so hard<\/p>\n
to push away doubt.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I wake up, do exercises<\/p>\n
know they are a step<\/p>\n
to get me past this broken hip<\/p>\n
and though I won\u2019t be running<\/p>\n
at dawn\u2026<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I will be walking on a beach<\/p>\n
feeling sand between my toes<\/p>\n
with a recognition that this<\/p>\n
precious life can change<\/p>\n
with an unplanned fall<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
and a long run at dawn<\/p>\n
may become a stroll<\/p>\n
on the beach.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
