I wish for a release from
\nthe energies that bind me.
\nThe ones that wish to control and defined me.
\nI don’t belong to them, I belong to me.
\nThese juvenile texts are used
\nto express what I feel.
\nDoes that not make them all the more real?
\nYet still, I struggle with desires to please others and cater to their needs.
\nI wish I could explain this need to please.
\nIt’s like a cancer that has plagued my being.
\nI’m always concerned with how they think of me.
\nLike a crossroads of caring about what others perceive and how I care only
\nabout what I see in me.
\nIt’s as though I live for them and me.
