{"id":89120,"date":"2021-06-26T10:55:20","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T14:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=89120"},"modified":"2021-07-09T14:42:06","modified_gmt":"2021-07-09T18:42:06","slug":"as-it-was-written","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/as-it-was-written\/","title":{"rendered":"As it was Written"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The dog I was understudying to learn the art<br \/>\nof a calm sea obeying the Messiah&#8217;s voice<br \/>\nloses its teeth in a bone fight.<br \/>\nPatience was it that rot the flesh<br \/>\noff the bone into the night of a greedy dog.<br \/>\nI tell you truly, faith is what keeps me watching<br \/>\nthe scene of this world changing<br \/>\ninto obscene scenes,<br \/>\nnot as I remoted but as it was written.<br \/>\nOnce, I spat on my palm, spoke in tongue<br \/>\nlike a man learning to defraud God<br \/>\nbut the spittle didn&#8217;t display the world I crave for.<br \/>\nGod knows it is not a sin to change<br \/>\na channel from a violent scene into a school<br \/>\nof children singing nursery rhymes.<br \/>\nI was a leper in Jesus&#8217; parable pleading<br \/>\nto resurrect in this poem.<br \/>\nAnd here I am loosing my fingers again,<br \/>\nflipping the scriptures for the portrait<br \/>\nof the Nirvana the prophecy spoke of.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The dog I was understudying to learn the art of a calm sea obeying the Messiah&#8217;s voice loses its teeth in a bone fight.
