May I rise each morning\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

remembering to wash my face<\/span><\/p>\n

brush my teeth<\/span><\/p>\n

and say \u201cGood Morning\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

to invisible things<\/span><\/p>\n

perceiving the subtle shift in gravity<\/span><\/p>\n

the presence of small birds on my shoulders<\/span><\/p>\n

firmly rooted feet and a rustle<\/span><\/p>\n

of leaves as a greeting\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Send an invitation to the unseen<\/span><\/p>\n

write it on homemade paper<\/span><\/p>\n

with pansies and mistletoe\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

pressed into the pulp<\/span><\/p>\n

Sealed with gold wax<\/span><\/p>\n

And stamped with a honeybee<\/span><\/p>\n

Cast it into the wind<\/span><\/p>\n

and wait<\/span><\/p>\n

for the busy and<\/span><\/p>\n

barely perceptible hands<\/span><\/p>\n

to respond in time<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

When I remember<\/span><\/p>\n

I am quietly watchful\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

of the shape of things<\/span><\/p>\n

buckled brows\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

the texture of words<\/span><\/p>\n

the outlines of a human heart\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

yours and mine<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dissonance is rough on a heartstring<\/span><\/p>\n

I perk my ear to catch it\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

and I hear their hands at work<\/span><\/p>\n

modulating tense tones\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

smoothing them over<\/span><\/p>\n

into lightly plucked arpeggios<\/span><\/p>\n

with dancing fingertips<\/span><\/p>\n

their arrival is often accompanied\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

by the absentminded humming<\/span><\/p>\n
