{"id":90418,"date":"2021-06-26T12:41:38","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T16:41:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=90418"},"modified":"2021-06-26T12:45:37","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T16:45:37","slug":"hour-four-23","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/hour-four-23\/","title":{"rendered":"Hour Four"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\">Glass<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">I have always found it hard to get close to anyone.<br \/>\nYou would always joke and say that I was a lot like a porcupine.<br \/>\nCute, but yet so harmful to those around me.<\/p>\n<p>I promise, I never meant to hurt you.<br \/>\nI never knew how sharp my tongue could truly be.<br \/>\nHow many scars have I left in my wake?<\/p>\n<p>I always liked to see myself as a sword.<br \/>\nThat analogy always made me feel better.<br \/>\nIt meant that I was no longer weak.<\/p>\n<p>After that night, I never wanted to feel vulnerable again.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s why I covered myself in armor and picked up my sword.<br \/>\nIt helped me keep myself safe.<\/p>\n<p>However, the longer I keep this charade up, the more I realize,<br \/>\nIf I am a sword, I am a sword made of glass,<br \/>\nand I feel myself beginning to shatter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;\u00a0 The last two lines are from <em>Glass Sword,\u00a0<\/em>written by Victoria Aveyard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Glass I have always found it hard to get close to anyone.
