The first line of this poem comes from the last line of the 1984 English translation (by Michael Henry Heim) of Milan Kundera&#8217;s <\/em>The Unbearable Lightness of Being<em>.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The strains of the piano and violin rose up weakly from below<br \/>\nthe faintest of echoes dissipating into the clouds<br \/>\nhovering above the treetops<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Silence swallowed everything else<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You\u2019d never know that anyone had been here<br \/>\nhad you not been present to feel the emptiness yourself<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Any scratchings that survive<br \/>\nwill one day be as faint as those echoes<br \/>\nuntil erosion finishes the job<\/p>\n<p><em>26 June 2021<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For Hour 4, I used both the text and visual prompts.
