{"id":90909,"date":"2021-06-26T13:05:02","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T17:05:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=90909"},"modified":"2021-06-26T13:05:02","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T17:05:02","slug":"in-the-garden","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/in-the-garden\/","title":{"rendered":"In the Garden"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The rabbit finds another victim,<\/p>\n<p>tender green and freshly planted,<\/p>\n<p>so the flowers now must rearrange.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no dirt in our ground,<\/p>\n<p>nor luscious grass to speak of,<\/p>\n<p>but I take mindful care in the<\/p>\n<p>ladies I&#8217;ve chosen for the merry-go-garden.<\/p>\n<p>Flashy zinnias and fleshy watercress,<\/p>\n<p>slender poppies bobbing in the breeze.<\/p>\n<p>A million shards of liquid diamond<\/p>\n<p>glimmer from periwinkle to sapphire,<\/p>\n<p>and all the crimson in between,<\/p>\n<p>from handsome cornflowers up high to<\/p>\n<p>happy clumps of alyssum watching down below.<\/p>\n<p>We host wasps and bees, moths and butterflies,<\/p>\n<p>and every now and then, a frog or lizard,<\/p>\n<p>and the resident spiders are polite and cooperative.<\/p>\n<p>In the garden, everyone is welcome.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>(Hour 4)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The rabbit finds another victim, tender green and freshly planted, so the flowers now must rearrange.
