Let’s get this out of the way, before we begin<\/p>\n
so there will be absolutely, positively no doubt.<\/p>\n
I no more want to be associated with having Daddy issues<\/p>\n
than the source of this poem wants to be known as Daddy Franco, King of the Zoomesphere<\/p>\n
and by no means does this poem belittle him by saying “and yet we are here.<\/p>\n
He is Daddy Franco<\/p>\n
a title that has been earned, justly so.<\/p>\n
He is the master globe trotter,<\/p>\n
taking the world by poem, one haiku at a time.<\/p>\n
I wish I could write a haiku.<\/p>\n
But I have not mastered the telling of a story in such short order<\/p>\n
And though it undoubtedly would honor-<\/p>\n
I am not not sure a haiku would fit…<\/p>\n
The General’s ranking.<\/p>\n
It contains way to little syllables to reference the inspiration<\/p>\n
that strikes forth whenever he opens his mouth.<\/p>\n
It does not expand far enough to truly note the lands<\/p>\n
in which he is known.<\/p>\n
He is friend and not foe.<\/p>\n
Though, if poetry were war-<\/p>\n
with his words, the General would lead.<\/p>\n
And behind him, I would gladly go.<\/p>\n
But poetry is not destined to harm or cut off the heads of one’s enemy;<\/p>\n
and so I use my pen, which is mightier than the sword<\/p>\n
to capture the attention of all who are human<\/p>\n
and present this award-<\/p>\n
for truly it is more blessed to give flowers to the living<\/p>\n
while they are still able to know and understand that they are important and loved<\/p>\n
than it is to write one’s eulogy-<\/p>\n
Bryan, Generalissimo Franco you are a light in the poetryverse<\/p>\n
and it is a privilege to Knight you the Haiku Emperor.<\/p>\n
Arise this day and know forever more that you are deserving of each and every accolade.<\/p>\n
