{"id":91084,"date":"2021-06-26T13:11:06","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T17:11:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=91084"},"modified":"2021-06-30T05:58:07","modified_gmt":"2021-06-30T09:58:07","slug":"poem-no-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/poem-no-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Poem No. 4 Upon Death"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Upon Death<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On 24<sup>th<\/sup> December my father died.<\/p>\n<p>We were expecting his death<\/p>\n<p>But on the day he took his leave<\/p>\n<p>He had his breakfast, and soup<\/p>\n<p>for supper, went to the toilet by himself.<\/p>\n<p>In the evening he was uncomfortable<\/p>\n<p>The doctor came and wanted him<\/p>\n<p>To be admitted to hospital<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;You can&#8217;t do that<\/p>\n<p>He needs to stay with his family&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>And he stayed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My brother and I stayed by his side<\/p>\n<p>And read the Bhagvad Geeta to him<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t know if he listened or understood<\/p>\n<p>Early morning \u2013 he just stopped breathing<\/p>\n<p>We waited for his breath to resume<\/p>\n<p>But it never did \u2013 such is the nature of death.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>My two children came to take Nana&#8217;s leave<\/p>\n<p>My son brought him his &#8216;glows in the dark&#8217; toy<\/p>\n<p>Put it on his pillow and kissed him.<\/p>\n<p>My daughter brought her Rag doll<\/p>\n<p>Florence, and laid her tenderly on his side \u2013<\/p>\n<p>This is to keep him company as<\/p>\n<p>He is going a long, long way away.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We kissed him one by one and<\/p>\n<p>said our Goodbyes after all<\/p>\n<p>Death is a part of life<\/p>\n<p>It comes to us all.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>Sundar<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Upon Death &nbsp; On 24th December my father died.
