A new beginning, I think.<\/p>\n
New memories to make,<\/p>\n
New stories to tell.<\/p>\n
My toe hits an uprooted tile,<\/p>\n
Bending down, I look to see what that is.<\/p>\n
A little hiding place,<\/p>\n
From when the house was someone else’s home.<\/p>\n
A tin can,<\/p>\n
My hand closes upon the lid,<\/p>\n
The rust brushing onto my fingers,<\/p>\n
As the tin sits opened again.<\/p>\n
A little locket,<\/p>\n
A little note,<\/p>\n
A little knife,<\/p>\n
A little vial.<\/p>\n
My heart skips a beat,<\/p>\n
As I take in what was someone else’s memories,<\/p>\n
A smile stretching across my face,<\/p>\n
I roll open the note.<\/p>\n
“I did it”, it reads,<\/p>\n
“I killed him.”, he confessed.<\/p>\n
“My little secret”<\/p>\n
Now not just yours I thought.<\/p>\n
A little locket that was around someone’s neck,<\/p>\n
A little knife that was around their neck,<\/p>\n
A little vial filled with the blood from their neck,<\/p>\n
I stand shook with the tin in my hand…<\/p>\n
