{"id":91648,"date":"2021-06-26T13:47:19","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T17:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=91648"},"modified":"2021-06-26T13:47:19","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T17:47:19","slug":"habits-of-an-aged-couple","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/habits-of-an-aged-couple\/","title":{"rendered":"Habits of An Aged Couple"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Habits of An Aged Couple<\/p>\n<p>When I say don\u2019t go<br \/>\nI mean leave already.<br \/>\nWhen I say already<br \/>\nI mean why are you still here,<br \/>\nnot moving on, moving along,<br \/>\ngone.<\/p>\n<p>When I say gone<br \/>\nI mean out of my life;<br \/>\nwhen I say life, I wonder<br \/>\nwhat it will be like without you<br \/>\nhovering over me year after year,<br \/>\ndictating who what where and when<br \/>\nas I ask<br \/>\nwhy.<\/p>\n<p>When I ask why<br \/>\nI\u2019m curious about why you feel<br \/>\nthe need to direct my every move,<br \/>\nevery thought, every conviction<br \/>\nand then I realize it\u2019s control.<br \/>\nWhen I say control, I mean<br \/>\nmanipulation.<br \/>\nWhen I say manipulation, I mean you<br \/>\ntrying to take over my life because you<br \/>\ndon\u2019t have one of your own.<\/p>\n<p>When I say your own, I mean to mind<br \/>\nyour own business, create a happy place<br \/>\nfor yourself that doesn\u2019t include<br \/>\nmanaging me. When I say me,<br \/>\nI mean me,<br \/>\nwhy can\u2019t I make decisions, take life<br \/>\nby the reins and ride on alone.<br \/>\nWhen I say alone, I mean I don\u2019t want<br \/>\nto be lonely, don\u2019t want to face<br \/>\nevery day bitter with regret, this habit<br \/>\nof arguing over nothing. When I say<br \/>\nnothing,<br \/>\nyou say something. When I say I\u2019ll go,<br \/>\nI mean you\u2019ll go.
