I thought I’d take a slow stroll down Madison and Main,<\/p>\n

Stop by the coffeeshop where they know me by name,<\/p>\n

slide by the diners, and grab a bite or two,<\/p>\n

Step to the blookstore and listen to canned blues.<\/p>\n

I call it what it is, a simple hop and stop<\/p>\n

to places where I’m known, where it’s home to shop.<\/p>\n

To those that know me, it’s plain, easy to see.<\/p>\n

A simple wandering ramble to places I’d like to be.<\/p>\n

You see, a poem’s got to have\u00a0rhythm,\u00a0<\/em>a certain kind of step,<\/p>\n

A shuffle and a slow note and a certain feel for rep-<\/p>\n

-etition, word division, a stringing of reason and rhyme.<\/p>\n

A poet in search of words that mean a certain bounce in time,<\/p>\n

a step, a stride, a slouch-along word for talkin’.<\/p>\n
