{"id":92028,"date":"2021-06-26T14:32:21","date_gmt":"2021-06-26T18:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/?p=92028"},"modified":"2021-06-26T14:32:21","modified_gmt":"2021-06-26T18:32:21","slug":"prompt-6-on-walking-w-out-the-word","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thepoetrymarathon.com\/blog\/2021\/06\/prompt-6-on-walking-w-out-the-word\/","title":{"rendered":"Prompt #6: on walking w\/out the word&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Time and bone ~<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>First the stride goes:<\/p>\n<p>no use for well-loved cowboy boots<\/p>\n<p>my long-legged fast-paced movements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Next the firm step goes:<\/p>\n<p>the hip rebels, the knee adjusts<\/p>\n<p>the foot feels tentative for ground.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then the hobble comes:<\/p>\n<p>the shoulders hunch for balance<\/p>\n<p>the hand reaches out for help.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Until it\u2019s all too much, and the cane<\/p>\n<p>becomes a constant companion<\/p>\n<p>worthy almost of a friend\u2019s name.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now, half a year and change later:<\/p>\n<p>feet follow paths gladly, legs swing<\/p>\n<p>freely from a cyborg hip.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Time that ground a bone to fragments<\/p>\n<p>spears the remnants of that bone<\/p>\n<p>with titanium.
