I carried the folding chair under my arm<\/p>\n

ambled down to the stop sign<\/p>\n

and hung a slow left onto Ukali Street<\/p>\n

My waddle paused at the grassy shoulder<\/p>\n

to examine the local color<\/p>\n

a bookcase offering the odd slipper<\/p>\n

Da Slippah Library<\/p>\n

for when one side broken<\/em><\/p>\n

but da other side still good<\/em><\/p>\n

Nearby where the street emptied<\/p>\n

into the Pacific Ocean<\/p>\n

I set up my chair facing the trades<\/p>\n

the sun to my back<\/p>\n

planted my butt<\/p>\n

contemplated the sea-flung piles of driftwood<\/p>\n

and wondered how much my missing gall bladder had weighed<\/p>\n

I spied a perfectly smooth little egg of a stone<\/p>\n

aside my foot<\/p>\n

hefted the tiny thing<\/p>\n

decided that was about right<\/p>\n

and slipped it into my shorts to<\/p>\n

commemorate the organ<\/p>\n

and this modest jaunt<\/p>\n

the nurse had recommended<\/p>\n
