An unmarked grave<\/p>\n
Sans name, sans words<\/p>\n
Lies outside the town<\/p>\n
Somewhere around the old library<\/p>\n
My friend says, it must be a poet<\/p>\n
But I do not agree<\/p>\n
Surrounded by weeds<\/p>\n
Only wildflowers to be seen<\/p>\n
This tiny space in earth<\/p>\n
Must be a resting space<\/p>\n
Of someone’s dreams…<\/p>\n
Their words stolen<\/p>\n
Their story untold<\/p>\n
Their imagination, fascination, wonder<\/p>\n
All buried to make way for life<\/p>\n
Real life<\/p>\n
Of dragging oneself<\/p>\n
This job to that, this chore to that,<\/p>\n
The whole practicality.<\/p>\n
So you see, poet or not<\/p>\n
they live still, albeit pragmatically<\/p>\n
It’s only the naive hopes<\/p>\n
That were dealt a death blow<\/p>\n
And laid to rest<\/p>\n
