To save water and the sacred land.<\/p>\n

So we stop to rest<\/p>\n

And rehydrate<\/p>\n

In the triple digit heat.<\/p>\n

We talk stories<\/p>\n

And remember why we\u2019re there.<\/p>\n

The treaties promised<\/p>\n

People would be free like the water<\/p>\n

To flow and flourish;<\/p>\n

The treaties promised<\/p>\n

Sacred lands would be kept sacred.<\/p>\n

When we honor the treaties<\/p>\n

Our ancestors signed<\/p>\n

We honor the ancestors.<\/p>\n

Have they no honor?<\/p>\n

We\u2019re told what Ojibwe hold true:<\/p>\n

They\u2019re the ancestors surrounding us.<\/p>\n
