my dad told me<br \/>\nIt wasn&#8217;t a request, it was a command<br \/>\nWithin an hour, I was at home<br \/>\nDon&#8217;t think this would&#8217;ve been possible before<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Take care of mum while I&#8217;m away&#8221;<br \/>\nHe said as he packed his bags<br \/>\nHe was going on a trip he couldn&#8217;t say no to<br \/>\nAnd he was worried for his wife<\/p>\n<p>Before the parasite changed the world<br \/>\nMy mom would&#8217;ve been left alone<br \/>\nShe can take care of herself<br \/>\nBut my dad still worries for her<\/p>\n<p>Today it is possible for him to worry less<br \/>\nThe virus changed all of this<br \/>\nIt wrecked lives and ruined plans<br \/>\nBut it brought families closer<\/p>\n<p>Normality in the days of old<br \/>\nconsisted of the freedom of going out<br \/>\nliving a life for the sake of Instagram likes<br \/>\nwhile secretly wishing for being left alone<\/p>\n<p>Normality today is entirely different<br \/>\nWhile Instagram likes still exist for some reason<br \/>\npriorities have shifted for many among us<br \/>\nfamily time and me time became a must<\/p>\n<p>Normality is often overrated<br \/>\nWhen people say I wish things were back<br \/>\nI hope they are not talking about being too busy<br \/>\nor the countless hours wasted in the commute<\/p>\n<p>Normality is often overrated<br \/>\nWhen people say I wish things were back<br \/>\nI hope they are not talking about being unhealthy<br \/>\ndue to not taking care of where our hands&#8217;ve been<\/p>\n<p>Normality is often overrated<br \/>\nWhen people say I wish things were back<br \/>\nI hope they are talking about offline classes<br \/>\nand the memories made in a classroom<\/p>\n<p>Normality is entirely destroyed<br \/>\nOnline classes sucking the energy from students<br \/>\nNo will to study or to learn anything<br \/>\nbut just be a token for attendance<\/p>\n<p>The new normal is different<br \/>\nCompanies now find more time to work<br \/>\nThan engage in pointless meetings<br \/>\nOr micromanaging supervisors<\/p>\n<p>The new normal is different<br \/>\nStudents form bonds over the internet<br \/>\nNot fully open, neither fully reserved<br \/>\nBut no real, deep connections made<\/p>\n<p>Do I love the new normal?<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s a hard question to answer<br \/>\nWell, who am I kidding &#8211; not really<br \/>\nBut this is a normal that I am finding good stuff in<\/p>\n<p>Soon, it will change and maybe even drastically<br \/>\nBut it will be a change coming unexpectedly<br \/>\nAdaptation is the only way forward<br \/>\nFor I cannot fight with the cycle of time<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<em>Surya T<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8220;Come home&#8221;
